JIKANKEI - 1.6.4

JIKANKEI is a software of Art Project. The word JIKANKEI is the Time System in Japanese. JIKANKEI does not express scientifically accurate data. It is just an Art work. Linger in the morning brightness, in the afternoon glow, and enjoy the gradually changing seasons on this globe. JIKANKEI is like fictions or poems. It is useless in this pursuit of profitable computer society. The author makes no warranties to your physical and/or mental damages.

JIKANKEI displays angles of the SUN and local times of cities and places on the Earth. Sunrise and sunset data are taken from US Naval Observatory Date Services through Internet. The latest version shows Sun directions and FUJYO JIHOU (gradually changing time) that is before Westernized Japanese Clock System. FUJYO JIHOU divides daytime to six equal periods which an angular unit to 30 degrees is measured along the celestial equator. When it is equinox one of periods is almost two hours. However It is changed by seasons, summer time is longer and winter time is shorter. The each divided points were named to the 6 directions of zodiac symbols in day time and the 6 directions of symbols in evening, such as U (rabbit, sunrise: six gongs), TATSU (dragon, about two hours form sunrise: five gongs), MI (snake, about four hours from sunrise: four gongs), and so on. JIKANKEI also shows one twelfth of daytime and one twelfth of evening time for the understanding of differences between twenty fourth even divided modern clock system.

Layer Four Traceroute - 3.0

LFT (Layer Four Traceroute) is a sort of "traceroute" that often works much faster than the commonly-used Van Jacobson method and goes through many configurations of packet-filter based firewalls. More importantly, LFT implements numerous other features, including TCP, UDP, and ICMP trace methods, AS number lookups through several reliable sources, loose source routing, netblock name lookups, and more. LFT also distinguishes between TCP-based protocols, which make its statistics slightly more realistic, and gives a savvy user the ability to trace protocol routes, not just layer-3 hops. Also includes WhoB, a whois client designed specifically for network engineers.

X29-Renamer - 1.3

The Mac OS9 Finder and most OS 9 applications (and ASIP file servers) have a maximum character limitation of 31 for either file or folder names. Mac OSX allow much longer file names than does Mac OS9.

At best these longer file or folder names get truncated with names ending in what is "gibberish". At worst, when attempting to copy a folder containing a few of these files with longer names, the copy will be prevented thereby requiring the user to locate the problematic files. In folders with many files this can become a time consuming task.

This simple drop application was created to take those OSX "unfriendly" long names and truncate them, including and respecting any file extension, to the 31 characters that OS9 accepts. In addition, to avoid name conflicts, the program will uniquely number each file or folder before the extension up to a maximum of 999.

Just drop the folder or the files on top of the application and the rest is handled automatically. You can then be assured of no random names being generated and all files uniquely named and numbered as well.

If you have hundreds files, the process can take a bit of time and as long as the application is running (check your DOCK) it is still doing its job although you may have full control of your mouse.

If there are any errors, a log file will be created on your desktop detailing the problem.

Key Viewer - 1.0

Old-time Mac users will remember the Desktop Accessory called Key Caps. Key Caps made it very simple to look up how to get your keyboard to input special characters. Apple dropped Key Caps in Mac OS X 10.2. So, I made Key Viewer. Apple still ships the Keyboard Viewer as part of OS X, but without Key Caps, there is not a simple method of invoking it. Key Viewer is simply a wrapper around a script that makes it easy to call up the Keyboard Viewer.

D2X-XL - 1.9.198

D2X-XL is an enhanced version of D2X, the OpenGL modification of the classic 6dof shooter game Descent 2. D2X-XL is available for MS Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. It is well documented and maintained.

Although D2X-XL contains a lot of enhancements and new features, it is still fully backwards compatible to every other Descent 2 version. As many fixes restore features of the original Descent 2 that were missing in D2X (like availability of all cockpit views, or working mouse steering), it is even closer to them than D2X itself.

If you want to support my efforts, you can do so by going to my web site and donating. :)

TubeTV - 0.7

Got an Apple TV and want more content for it? Wish you could watch YouTube on your TV?

TubeTV is a new freeware program for Mac OS X Tiger and above which enables you to search for and save Google Video and YouTube videos in a format suitable for playback on your Apple TV or video capable iPod.

A built in search bar and web browser helps you conveniently locate your favorite videos, or, if you prefer, a URL can be pasted into the program to jump directly to a video clip. High quality video conversions using the H.264 codec are performed with QuickTime®. Double clicking on a saved video file will open it in iTunes, allowing easy library addition and syncing to your desired device. Note that TubeTV does not interact with iTunes directly - it's the same as importing any other video file to iTunes. Alternately, just drag a saved video file on to QuickTime Player to view it locally.

This software doesn't require an installer; just copy it to your Applications folder and launch.

A preference sets whether or not the movie is converted to H.264 automatically after downloading. If conversion is enabled, you will end up with two movie files on your desktop (or wherever you choose to save them). The file ending in .m4v is the one you should open with iTunes and sync to your iPod or Apple TV.
