It is like the built-in Slide Show screensaver on Mac OS X, but with more options and features:
* Keeps a persistent list of all the images found in the specified directory tree. This allows the screen saver to handle huge directory trees, and still have the benefit of
o displaying images immediately, and,
o not "exercising" the disk every time it gets invoked.
* Options include:
o the speed of the zoom-in and -out;
o the duration for how long an image is displayed before the next one;
o whether or not the path of the image currently being displayed should be displayed, too.
o many more ...
* You can specify constraints for excluding images from being displayed:
o the minimal size in pixels (e.g., to exclude thumbnails);
o the minimal size in bytes;
o a list of file patterns; if the path of an image matches one of the patterns, it gets excluded (e.g., to exclude "index prints").
Installation: just open the disk image, and copy ArtSaver.saver to the directory /Library/Screen Savers or ~/Library/Screen Savers (depending on write permissions and taste).
What's new in this version:
* new option to display only the basename of the pictures
* new option to switch the zoom in/out effect off
* logs the filenames of the displayed images (can be reviewed in System Profiler)
* various little things in the source code
